Rolling Shadows – Energy Plan for the Western Wo/man

Posted: September 9, 2012

New work by Assocreation entitled “Energy Plan for the Western Wo/man” and “A Car Show for Pedestrians” is featured in Quantified Self, the Gallery Project’s current exhibition. The exhibition runs from August 30 – October 7, 2012. The opening reception is on Friday, August 31, 6 – 9 pm.

The “Energy Plan for the Western Wo/man” is an interactive mixed media assemblage. Solar toy cars are mounted on a cnc routed xps insulation board (96x48x2 inches) forming a pixelated human shadow image. It is a piece for an art and toy collector. The little toy cars are jacked up like cars in a garage and can easily be taken down to play with it. This piece was conceived for a spot in the gallery next to a street window in order to have it activated (have all the little engines start and the tiny wheels spin) during rush hour, which is when the afternoon sun shines inside the gallery. Next to it is an iPhone showing a video of the “Car Show for Pedestrians”.
